When players raise money for charity through in-game events and skins that money goes directly into the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. Once that money is raised, player’s voices are crucial in determining where that money goes. Thanks to the contributions of players around the world, the Social Impact Fund recently crossed $50M raised for a wide variety of important causes.
This year, $4.5M was allocated to be donated to charities in partnership with GlobalGiving. Across 28 regions, three different nonprofits were available for voting in each region. These nonprofits all work on impactful causes spanning climate change, education, gender equality, and plenty more.
While competition in games is kinda our thing, all of these nonprofits are winners in our book so the nonprofit that received the most votes got 50% of that region’s pool and the other two organizations each received 25%. Every single organization on this list is guaranteed to receive at least $10,000.
Now that the campaign has wrapped we've received about 589,000 votes from players all around the world championing the causes they care about most.
